Sybille Schmidt

Sybille Schmidt ( born August 31, 1967 in Apolda ) is a retired German rower. It was 1992 Olympic champion in the quadruple sculls.

Schmidt began at SC Dynamo Berlin and went to after the fall of the Berlin SC, she trained under Sabine Dähne. In 1987, she won for the first time a DDR title in quadruple sculls. In 1989, the GDR sculls with Jutta Behrendt, Jana Thieme, Sybille Schmidt and Kathrin Boron was world champion. The following year, Claudia Krüger and Jana Sorgers could the boat with a new cast with Kerstin Köppen, Sybille Schmidt, defend the title. A year later, the boat started in the same occupation for a reunified Germany and again won the World Cup. At the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992, the boat in the cast Kerstin Müller, Sybille Schmidt, Birgit Peter and Kristina Mundt won gold with four seconds ahead of the Romanians.
