Sychrov Castle

The Sychrov ( German Sichrow ) is located in Sychrov, eight kilometers northwest of the city Turnov in Okres Liberec, Czech Republic.

The property located in Northeast Bohemia is one of the important historical palace buildings. The original Baroque palace began in 1690 commissioned by the Knights of Lamotte Frintropp in order. 1820 Rohan bought the reign of the Lords of Waldstein. Prince Charles Alain G. Rohan had soon after the former Baroque building plant increased by an additional floor building.

The most important changes were made under Joseph I. Kamil Rohan in the years 1847-1862, when the castle was the Neo-Gothic shape. The designs provided the architect Bernard Grueber and his successor, Josef Provot. In the castle there are more than forty elaborately equipped halls and rooms that are accessible. The Rohan family was in the castle together a very extensive furniture fundus. In particular, the images coming from France are very valuable. For the most part it is portraits of family members, the French nobles and kings.
