Sydney Film Festival

The Sydney Film Festival was founded in 1954 and is accredited as an international film festival at the Film Producers Association FIAPF. The festival takes place every year in June for two weeks in Sydney.

The first festival was opened on June 11, 1954, lasted four days and attracted 1,200 spectators. By 1968, the University of Sydney was the venue, then the festival was held in the Winter Garden of Rose Bay ( New South Wales), and finally in 1974 to move into the State Theatre in downtown Sydney.

Since 2008 will be held an international competition as part of the Sydney Film Festival. In addition, other film prizes will be awarded: one Audience Award and the Dendy Awards for Australian Short Films with a prize money of AUD $ 3,000 each, -.
