Syed Kamall

Syed Kamall ( born March 2, 1967) is a British politician and since 2005 a member of the European Parliament. He is a member of the Conservative Party.

Life

Syed Kamall comes from a family of South American origin. His grandfather moved in the 1950s from Guyana to London. Kamall completed until 1988 a training in electronics in Liverpool. 1989, he earned master's degree in science in economics at the London School of Economics. The academic degree of PhD he was awarded 2004 on the theme " organizational change " at City University London.

He was from 1989 to 1991 Business Systems Analyst in the Department of International Relations of the NatWest Bank. From 1994 to 1996, he taught economics at the University of Bath. He then got a one-year research contract for Business Administration at the University of Leeds. From 1997 to 2001 he was deputy director of Omega Partners and following 2001-2005 Consultant for SSK Consulting. From 2004 he taught in addition a guest lecturer at the University of Leeds.

Political career

From 1991 to 2004 he was chairman of the Conservative Association in London's Vauxhall Stockwell. He is Chairman of the European Parliament 's Friends of Sports Cross Party group.

In the period 2009-2014 Kamall was elected as an MEP. Kamall is a member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs. Deputy, he is in the Committee on International Trade, in the Delegation for relations with the Maghreb countries and the Arab Maghreb Union and the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean.
