Sylhet ( English, Sylheti: সিলট, Silat, silot; Bengali: সিলেট, Silet, Silet; earlier শ্রীহট্ট, Śrīhaṭṭa, Shrihatta ) is a major city in the Asian country Bangladesh. It is the capital of the administrative region of Sylhet in the northeast of the country and currently (2007) a total population of 369 425.
