Sylvinho (July 1999)
Silvio Mendes Campos Júnior ( born April 12, 1974 in São Paulo), better known as Sylvinho, is a former Brazilian- Spanish footballer.
Career
Association
Sylvinho began his career at SC Corinthians Paulista, with whom he in his first year as a pro immediately won the Brazilian Cup. In addition to some other titles he won with Corinthians in 1998 and 1999, the national championship.
In 1999, the left-back to the English first division club FC Arsenal, whose team he was to replace the then 35 -year-old Nigel Winterburn in the longer term. He played until 2002 when top club, with whom he ever once won the English championship and the FA Cup. He was the first Brazilian team in the Gunners. Due to an injury Sylvinhos in the 2000 /01 season Ashley Cole got a place in the Arsenal team, he did not lose to the Brazilians even after his recovery. This meant that Sylvinho was sold to the Spanish club Celta Vigo in the summer of 2001.
In Sylvinhos first season at Spanish side Vigo the team finished in fifth place in the Primera División; this was followed in 2002 /03, the fourth rank in the final table, thus qualifying for the Champions League. In the following season 2003/ 04 Vigo was 19th in the table and climbed into the Segunda División, after Sylvinho left the club and moved to the top club FC Barcelona.
With Barcelona, Sylvinho won the 2005 and 2006, the Spanish championship. 2006 also the Champions League club Arsenal was obtained earlier in their final Barça Sylvinhos beat 2-1.
After the 2007/ 08 season be really to 2008 ongoing contract was extended until 2009. Although he finished his career in public, undertook the English club Manchester City Sylvinho in the season 2009 /2010. He got there a contract over a year. After ten league appearances for the Citizens he searched unsuccessfully for a year a new club and ultimately finished his career in 2011 final.
