Symbian Ltd.

The Symbian Limited was a British software company headquartered in London, which continues to exist as a foundation under the name Symbian Foundation since 2008.

The Symbian Ltd.. [ Sɪmbɪən ] was founded in June 1998 as a consortium of Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia and Psion. In the following years, Panasonic, Siemens, Sony Ericsson and Samsung joined as partner. In December 2008, Nokia acquired all the shares in Symbian. Already in June 2008, Nokia had announced that they would then leave Symbian to a newly established Symbian Foundation.

Symbian OS

On Symbian OS based different user interfaces, most devices come from Nokia and with the user interface S60 ( formerly Series 60) equipped. Since the acquisition of Symbian Ltd.. by components of Nokia Symbian under the Eclipse license ( open source ) are provided.
