Symbol Technologies

Symbol Technologies Inc. was established in 1973 American manufacturer of equipment for mobile data collection, based in Holtsville, New York. The main products include barcode readers, RFID and wireless LAN products. The German Branch Symbol Technologies GmbH & Co. KG was in Dietz (Hesse ).

In September 2006, Motorola announced its intention to acquire Symbol Technologies, this acquisition was completed on January 9, 2007. Motorola had for 3.9 billion U.S. dollars paid The company itself employed on 28 February 2006 around 5,200 employees, including 2,400 in the United States.

Today Symbol Technologies is part of Motorola Solutions, the independent Motorola business customer division.

The 2D Barcode PDF417 standard was developed in 1991 by Symbol Technologies.
