Symphony No. 1 (Bernstein)

The Symphony No. 1, called Jeremiah ( subtitle: "War Between the Gypsies and the Russians ," German "war between Gypsies and the Russians " ), was composed in 1942 by Leonard Bernstein. Formally this is more of a symphonic poem, as the work programmatically the biblical story of the prophet Jeremiah follows.

The work was premiered on January 28, 1944 in Pittsburgh and is the father of the composer, Samuel Bernstein dedicated.

The symphony is divided into three sets: " Prophecy " (Eng. " prophecy " ) largamente; " Profanation " (Eng. " desecration " ), vivace con brio and " Lamentation " (Eng. " action " ), lento.
