Synagogue of Casale Monferrato
The synagogue in Casale Monferrato, a town in the Italian region Piedmont, was built in 1595. It is located in Vicolo Salmone Olper.
History
The Jewish community of Casale Monferrato was for centuries a large and prosperous Jewish community, which is why she was able to build this until today still used for worship magnificent synagogue. Built in the very baroque style synagogue has a monumental ark. On both sides of Toraschreins are large stucco, representing Jerusalem and another unidentifiable city. On the walls are many Hebrew inscriptions, which inter alia deals with the history of the synagogue.
1866, the synagogue was enlarged and completely renovated. A pulpit was built and expanded the woman galleries.
