Synaptic (software)

Synaptic is a graphical user interface for the package manager APT and is based on GTK .

General

It serves as a front end for APT, with the task to make the package management for some Linux distributions comfortable. It handles program packages that are available as Debian and RPM package.

Synaptic has also been ported to KDE under the name Kynaptic, this is not developed any further. Successor was the Adept program.
