Synchronicity is the fifth and final studio album by The Police, released in June 1983 at A & M Records. The album was recorded in the reference book of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You.

Formation and style

The album is inspired by the book The Roots of Coincidence by Arthur Koestler, which in turn receives Carl Gustav Jung's theory of synchronicity. Sting had read Koestler in his youth. The album was recorded in the winter of 1982 in London, Montserrat and Quebec. Copeland drummer played in a room that was connected by a " CCTV" with the studio in Quebec. There were also discussions about his style, Copeland's drum tracks were almost thrown away. The ballad Every Breath You Take was a hit.
