Syntaxin

Syntaxins are proteins that integrate into membranes and involved in the fusion of membranes. An example are the SNARE proteins that play a role in vesicle fusion. Syntaxin interacts as 1 (t- SNARE ) with SNAP-25 and synaptobrevin 2 (v- SNARE ), to form the so-called the SNARE complex. This vesicle membrane and cell membrane are brought very close together, so that the fusion of the two membranes is simplified. Syntaxin Syntaxin 3 is the only which has an enzymatic cleavage. Thus, the helical intracellular portion of syntaxin 3 by the transmembrane adapter is disconnected. The helical member has the uncleaved state during the helical cleavage product has a low affinity to a high affinity RanBP5. This complex can migrate into the nucleus and exercising a gene-regulating function. This could possibly in cell polarity play an important role especially syntaxin 3 itself is involved in cell polarization.
