Syntrophy

Syntrophie denotes the vergesellschafte life of various organisms (mixed companies) that make each one another with certain metabolic products for the other partner and thus mutually interdependent. Syntrophic organisms, for example, the yeast Rhodotorula rubra and the fungus Mucor ramannianus. Also, some methanogens are from the neighboring hydrogen bacteria dependent, the other way around those bacteria can grow only if the hydrogen is consumed by the methanogens.
