SyQuest Technology

Syquest Technology, Inc. (also known as SYQT, Inc. ) was one of the leading manufacturer of removable hard drives. Until the end of 1998 Bankruptcy the drives and media were the company quasi- synonym for backup and data exchange technique especially very data-intensive applications such as image processing and print preparation.

Following the insolvency of most of the rights and patents, as well as large parts of the company were taken over by the fiercest competitors Iomega. The company changed its name to SYQT and still operational for some years an internet shop, were sold in the reclaimed at the subsidiary Syquest Repair SyJet and SparQ drives.

With few exceptions, the Syquest drives were basically connected by SCSI interface to the computer.

The subsequent spread of simultaneously inexpensive and large-capacity data storage devices such as compact disc and digital versatile disc has this almost completely replaced as a very reliable and well-known fast storage media.
