Syracuse Eagles

The Syracuse Eagles were an American ice hockey franchise in the American Hockey League from Syracuse, New York. The venue for the Eagles was the Onondaga County War Memorial Coliseum.

History

The Syracuse Eagles were founded in 1974 as a franchise of the American Hockey League. A group consisting of a part of the owner of the Syracuse Blazers of the North American Hockey League, received before the season 1974/75 permission to start their own AHL franchise. However, this had to divide the fan base with the Blazers, although in the NAHL and thus actually a league with the Eagles played, but were significantly more successful in 1974 and 1977 playoff winner in the NAHL were, while the Eagles in their first and only AHL season missed the playoffs. Then the franchise in 1975 has already been dissolved.
