Syreeta Wright

Syreeta Wright ( born August 3, 1946 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; † 5 July 2004 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American soul singer and songwriter.

Syreeta Wright was married from 1970 to 1972 with Stevie Wonder, who also produced their first two albums and numerous songs written with her ( Your Kiss Is Sweet, 1974, Come Back As A Flower, 1979). Her biggest hit With You I'm Born Again, a duet with Billy Preston in 1979 was a second place in the UK and a fourth place in the U.S.. Overall, it took six solo albums for the legendary Motown label and two other duets ( with Billy Preston and GC Cameron ). After 1983 ( their last album from the same year was produced by Jermaine Jackson) they barely took plates on (but is on Quincy Jones ' Back on the Block involved), withdrew very into private life and cared only rarely to their fading music career. 2004 Syreeta lost the two-year battle with cancer. She died at age 57.
