Syriac Infancy Gospel

The Arabic Infancy Gospel is an apocryphal gospel of the New Testament. It was probably written in Syriac; Two Syrian manuscripts are obtained, which are constructed very similar in content.

The Arabic Infancy Gospel can be divided into three parts: the birth of Jesus, miracles in Egypt and miracles of Jesus boy. The first part of the birth of Jesus is strongly reminiscent of the Protevangelium of James, which should have formed the basis for this. However, much of the infancy narratives probably comes originally from the Infancy Gospel according to Thomas, and was revealed by the translation into Arabic Mohammed even known. Some of it - more specifically the wonderful virginal conception and birth - can be found in the Qur'an again.

The central theme of the Arab Childhood Gospel is the stay in Egypt, while in Mt 2:13 ff called, but is then no longer mentioned.

The central figures are the miracle- acting baby Jesus and his mother Mary, especially in the middle part, while staying in Egypt, acting as a mediator.
