Syriac Military Council

The Military Council of the Syriac (English Syriac Military Council, Syrian- Aramaic ܡ ܘ ܬ ܒ ܐ ܦ ܘ ܠ ܚ ܝ ܐ ܣ ܘ ܪ ܝ ܝ ܐ Mawtbo Fulhoyo Syriac, abbreviation MFS, Arabic المجلس العسكري السرياني, DMG Al- Majlis al - ʿ Askari as- siryānī ) is an Aramaic / Assyrian military organization in Syria and part of the people's defense units ( YPG ).

Founding and goals

The establishment of the organization was announced on 8 January 2013. According to the MFS is the goal of the organization to strive for the national rights of the Assyrian / Aramean people and to defend its settlements. The MFS operates mainly in areas that are populated by the Assyrian / Aramaic Christian minority, especially in al -Hasakah.

On December 16, 2013, the MFS announced the creation of a new military academy called " the martyrs Abgar ." On December 24, 2013, succeeded to the MFS to conquer together with the local defense units ( YPG ), occupied by the al - Nusra front Gharduka village in north-eastern Syria back. The village is now under the full control of the MFS. The MFS participated in various offensives launched by the YPG against jihadist groups of al - Nusra front, the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant ( ISIL ) and Ahrar al -Shams in part, including a YPG- offensive, which in the December 26, 2013 Tel Hamis and the surrounding area has been started.
