Syrian Petroleum Company

Syrian Petroleum Company (SPC ) is a Syrian, state-owned company with headquarters in Damascus. The company is engaged in the exploration and production of crude oil. The company was founded in 1974. SPC owns 50 percent shares in the largest oil producers Syrian Al- Furat Petroleum Company. Other shareholders in Al- Furat Petroleum Company hold the oil company Royal Dutch Shell and Petro-Canada.

Furthermore it has SPC include the following shares in companies (as of 2008):

  • Amrit Petroleum Company (50%)
  • Awda Petroleum Company (50%)
  • Dujla Petroleum Company (50%)
  • Hayyan (50%)
  • Kawkab Oil Company (KOC ) (50 %)
  • Deir Ezzor Petroleum Company (50%)

On 14 February 2009, the Syrian government has the state-owned company restructured and established the General Cooperation for Refining and Distribution of Petroleum Products by law. To her since then include the following companies:

  • Baniyas Refinery Company
  • Homs Refinery Company
  • Syrian Company for Distribution and Storage Petroleum Products
  • Syrian Company for gas distribution.

With another law, the General Petroleum Company ( GPC) was founded. This took the following companies:

  • Syrian Petroleum Company (SPC )
