Syro-Malabar Catholic Archdiocese of Tellicherry

The archeparchy Tellicherry (Latin: Archieparchia Tellicherriensis ) is a located in India archeparchy of the Syro -Malabar Church, based in Tellicherry, Kerala.

History

The archeparchy Tellicherry was posted on December 31, 1953 by Pope Pius XII. built with the Apostolic Constitution Ad Christi Ecclesiam out of territory of the Diocese of Calicut as the Eparchy of Tellicherry. On March 1, 1973, the Eparchy of Tellicherry were parts of their territory from establishing the Eparchy of Mananthavady. A further transfer of territory took place on 28 April 1986 foundation of the diocese Thamarasserry.

The Eparchy of Tellicherry was collected on 18 May 1995 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution spirituality bono for archeparchy. On 24 April 1999, the archeparchy Tellicherry were parts of their territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Belthangady.
