Système universitaire de documentation

The catalog Système universitaire de documentation ( SUDOC, in a free German translation, documentation catalog of university libraries ' ) is a French union catalog, which was founded in 1999. It is guided by various documentation centers at universities and research centers. The overall management is done by the Agence de l' enseignement supérieur bibliographique ( ABES ).

With its standard file Autorités ( IdRef ) takes SUDOC the Virtual International Authority File ( VIAF ) part.

Survey

The SUDOC catalog contained in the sample year 2011, more than 10 million bibliographic entries to various documents such as monographs, theses, journals, electronic and audiovisual resources, microforms, maps, music scores and manuscripts along with their location detection.

The catalog also record collections of magazines from around 2000 documentation centers that do not fall within the field of higher education as urban libraries, documentation centers, etc. The catalog also claimed to list all dissertations that were written in France.

With the functions of SUDOC can:

  • Create a Bibliography by download or export of entries;
  • During the search save (up to 100 ) entries in a clipboard to download them later;
  • Access to the full text of the document, if it is offered online;
  • A document in one of the libraries of the SUDOC network localize to consult it to order for interlibrary loan or reproduce.
