SystemRescueCd

SystemRescueCd ( from English for System Rescue CD ) is a Gentoo -based Linux distribution that can be run directly from a CD as a live CD. It was designed as a small rescue system ( bootable emergency system ) to repair a no longer bootable operating system and recover data.

Functions

Launched in France Project SystemRescueCd is based on Gentoo Live CD and includes a number of useful system tools ( see below) and basic applications (browser, editor, Midnight Commander, network tools ). In addition to the console also an X Window System with the window manager Xfce4 (up to version 1.1.7 JWM, before GNU Window Maker ) is available.

The distribution thus provides easy ways to make administration tasks such as creating or modifying partitions. So many system programs and simple tools are included. In addition, the most important file systems ( ext2/ext3/ext4, btrfs, reiserfs, reiser4, xfs, jfs, vfat, ntfs, iso9660 ), and network systems ( samba, nfs ) support.

  • Part Image: Save and restore partition images
  • File system tools ( e2fsprogs, reiserfsprogs, reiser4progs, xfsprogs, jfsutils, ntfsprogs, dosfstools ): formatting, resizing, and debugging of existing partitions
  • NTFS - 3G: write access to MS Windows NTFS partitions
  • Sfdisk: Save and restore the partition table
  • " Make Undo delete " Testing of partitions: TestDisk
  • Network tools (Samba, NFS, ping, nslookup ... )
