Szczyrk

Szczyrk ( German shirk ) is located in the Silesian Beskid Mountains in the Valley of Żylica a Polish city in Silesia in the powiat Bielski. It is next to Zakopane and Wisła one of the most famous Polish ski resorts. Szczyrk has 60 km of cross country ski trails and 30 lifts. The city is a member of the euro region and the Beskydy Beskidzka5.

History

The origins of the village are connected with the settlement of the region to Żywiec by Wallachian nomadic shepherds in the 15th and 16th centuries (see also: highlanders ). 1772 the First Partition of Poland, the place fell to Austria. In the 19th century, the living conditions ( rural) economic crises and industrialization, so that a large part of the working population deteriorated migrated to nearby Bielsko- Biała.
