Szemrowice

Schemrowitz, Polish Szemrowice, is a town in Upper Silesia. Schemrowitz located in the municipality Guttentag in powiat Oleski in Polish Opole Voivodeship.

Schemrowitz located four kilometers northwest of the municipality seat Guttentag, 14 kilometers south of the county town of Olesno (Rosenberg OS) and 35 kilometers east of the voivodship Opole.

History

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 195 voters voted to remain in Germany and 317 for Poland. Schemrowitz remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 955 inhabitants in the village. On July 22, 1936, the town was renamed in murmur. In 1939 the place 1058 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Praise ( in the meantime in the district Guttentag ).

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Szemrowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. From 1945 to 1954, the city was the seat of the municipality Szemrowice. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. From 1975 to 1998, was the place in the Province of Czestochowa. In 1999 the place for Opole Voivodeship and powiat Oleski. On 4 July 2008, the City also received the official German place names Schemrowitz.
