Szigetszentmiklós

Szigetszentmiklós ( German: Nigglau ) is a city in Hungary Pest County. It is located south of Budapest on Csepel Island in the Danube. Was first documented Szigetszentmiklós 1264, the city rights it received in 1986.

Naming

The name consists essentially of two parts: Sziget is in Hungarian for the island, which the Csepel is meant, and Szent Miklós stands for Saint Nicholas is the patron saint of the city.
