Szolnok-Doboka County

County Szolnok - Doboka [ solnok dobokɒ ] (Hungarian Szolnok - Doboka Vármegye, Romanian Comitatul Solnoc - Dabaca ) was a Hungarian county in Transylvania.

It bordered on the counties Szilágy, Satu Mare ( Szatmár ), Máramaros, Bistrita - Naszod ( Beszterce - Naszód ) and Cluj ( Kolozs ).

It included 5150 km ², was mountainous and wooded, especially in the northern part and was developed by the Great and Little Somes (now Romanian Somes ) flows. 1881 had 193 677 mostly ( Greek Catholic ) Romanian inhabitants, the crops, livestock and mining operated. The land was mainly in the valleys fertile (in the south thrived wine ) and rich in cattle and wild, salt and iron. Capital was Dés.

History

County Szolnok - Doboka was in 1876, when the administrative structure of Transylvania was changed, formed from the county Belső -Szolnok and parts of the county Doboka. 1918 was then as Judeţul Someş a part of Romania. Today Bistrita-Nasaud (eastern part ) and Salaj the area lies in the districts of Cluj (central and southern part), Maramures (northern part ), ( western part).
