T -2 toxin is a mycotoxin ( poison of molds) from the group of trichothecenes and a Fusarium toxin. It is one of the type A trichothecenes and produced as a metabolite of fungi of different genera, mainly of members of the genus Fusarium, such as Fusarium sporotrichioides and Fusarium tricinctum.
Toxicology
The toxin is effective on both mammals and birds toxic, oral LD50 values between 1 and 4 mg / kg body weight. In some animal species ( cattle, mice, pigs) produced the gift of stomach bleeding, diarrhea and drowsiness. Carcinogenic effects in various animals has been demonstrated.
