T-Hrvatski Telekom

The Hrvatski Telekom d.d. (T -HT, Croatian Telecom ) is the national telecommunications company in Croatia.

The Croatian Telecom was formerly the telephone branch of the state monopoly Hrvatska pošta i telekomunikacije (Croatian Post and Telecommunications), which was divided into two parts in 1999. Both parts Hrvatska Posta ( Croatian Post) and Hrvatske Telekomunikacije (Croatian Telecom ) were state monopolies in their individual fields.

On 10 June 1999 the Croatian Parliament decided to privatize the Croatian Telecom and retain the capital and monopoly. Members of the opposition parties voted, as Juraj Buzolic, a member of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union, on the other hand. The initial decision was 36% to sell to a company to retain 30 %, 7 % to employees to sell and provide 7% of war veterans. In October 1999, the German Telekom bought 36% shares for 850 million U.S. dollars. Subsequently, the Croatian telecommunications changed their logo and was renamed Hrvatski Telekom ( Croatian Telecom ).

In October 2001, a new Croatian Government proceeds from a coalition of six parties signed an agreement with Deutsche Telekom, that an additional 16 % of Croatian Telecom to sell at a price of 500 million euro. The trade was obviously a result of the even then strained financial situation of the state budget. Thus, the German Telekom became the main shareholder. The government went on quickly until 2005 to change the conditions of the Croatian telecommunications market to enlarge the monopoly of the Croatian Telekom.

Since the German Telekom is the majority shareholder, the basic fee has been increased dramatically and significantly higher prices for fixed telephony introduced for end users.

They also increased in the area of mobile telephony, along with the second provider VIP (ie, a duopoly ) the connection fees.

In October 2004, the German Telekom is the famous company in T -HT at the same time introduced the famous magenta telecom branding and increased spending on advertising.

T -HT has a 49 % interest in the Bosnian EroNet / HT Mobilne komunikacije.

In spring 2007, the Croatian government brought a certain part of its stake in T -HT to the stock market.
