T La Rock

T La Rock ( née: Terry Keaton, born 1962 ) is an American old school rapper.

Career

To rap, he started in the late 1970s. He became known by the single It's yours, which appeared in Def Jam in 1984. This extraction was original because it is considered the first bass - music production. It is like the beginning of Miami bass music as it is ideally embodied by performers such as the tag team or the 2 Live Crew.

Together with his younger brother Special K and DJ Louie Lou He then brought the 1985 EP He's incredible out. Then there was with Mantronik, DJ and producer in the hip- hop group Mantronix, the combined works. The most famous piece of him is Breaking Bells. In this track he provides an answer to the song by LL Cool J Rock the bells. In 1987 appeared the album Lyrical King: From the Boogie Down Bronx, which was highly appreciated in the underground hip -hop scene. Characteristic for his rap style was his clear pronunciation, his rhyme flow and his lyrics.

He remained commercially unsuccessful. His last album, On a warpath appeared in 1989 on Sleeping Bag Records, but only in the UK. Then it was quiet around him.

Crime

In the early 1990s he was the victim of a violent crime. His younger brother Special K found him near his home in a pool of blood. Only later they found the approximate sequence of events out, because T -La Rock was able to remember anything, not even to his friends and not because he is a rapper. T La Rock wanted a settling disputes, but was himself a victim. It struck him several times with an object on the head until it swelled up and he could not move. The doctors estimated his chances of survival between twenty and thirty percent. His motor and mental skills were up to 1996 so severely impaired that he was not left unattended on the street. He came into a nursing home and had to rely on a wheelchair for some time.

T La Rock has been restored health and worked as a film producer until at least 2006. He planned in 2006 to make a film about his life.
