T- Model Ford ( James Lewis Carter Ford in fact, * 1920-1925, probably in 1924 in Forest Mississippi; † July 16, 2013 in Greenville, Mississippi) was an American blues guitarist, singer and songwriter.

Life

According to its own figures, Ford grew up as the son of a farmer, who him up to the age of 17 did not go out, can not go to school. He spent the first part of his life as a laborer in various jobs, such as Field workers, working in a sawmill, and later as a foreman. Two years of his life he is said to have spent in prison because he had killed a man, according to his own statement it was self-defense. Until his 58th birthday he had to do with music only as a listener, only then gave him his fifth wife a guitar and began teaching himself to play the guitar. His recording career began only when he was about 75 years old.

Outside of the Mississippi Delta, he began to tour in the 1990s. His national breakthrough came when he performed the opening act for Buddy Guy. When he was not touring the Blue clubs, he joined with his drummer Spam ( Tommy Lee Miles ) on the Nelson Street in Greenville, Mississippi, where they played up to eight hours. T- Model Ford died after a series of strokes, such as, among others, one of his record label, Fat Possum Records, announced. According to official records, he died at the age of 94 years.
