T. E. B. Clarke

TEB ' Tibby ' Clarke, Ernest actually Thomas Bennett Clarke ( born June 7, 1907 in Watford, † February 11, 1989 in London ) was an English screenwriter.

Life

Clarke studied at Cambridge and then worked in Australia, Argentina and London as a reporter. In 1932 he published his first book in 1943 and came to the Ealing Studios, for which he was henceforth worked as a screenwriter. It originated mostly comedies. His greatest achievement was winning the Oscar for best screenplay in 1953 with The Lavender Hill Mob. The other films after his scripts were not as successful, at the end of his career just yet emerged inconsequential children's films. 1961 was followed by another Oscar nomination for him and Gavin Lambert for Sons and Lovers.
