T. R. Knight

Theodore Raymond Knight ( born March 26, 1973 in Minneapolis, Minnesota ) is an American actor.

Life & Career

Lived until his move to New York and worked in his hometown of Minneapolis, where he was employed in the local drama group the Guthrie Theater, and later participated in a few selected pieces at the Knight.

In New York, Knight struck through with minor Broadway productions before him with his portrayal of Damis succeeded in Molière's Tartuffe a breakthrough 2003. In the same year he was nominated for his performance in Anto Howard's Scattergood for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play for a Drama Desk Award.

Later minor roles followed on television series before 2005 Knight was one of the main roles in Grey's Anatomy. For the part of the young and timid assistant physician, Dr. George O'Malley, he was nominated in 2006 together with the ensemble cast of Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey and Sandra Oh for a Screen Actors Guild Award. That same year, Knight became the focus of the tabloids when he outed himself in the U.S. weekly magazine People as homosexual, to end the " unnecessary rumors ." In 2009, Knight asked to be released from his contract with Grey's Anatomy, three years before its expiry. This wish was granted after the fifth season of the series. Then the actor began a theater commitment.
