Taban lo Liyong

Taban lo Liyong ( born 1938 in Sudan) is a Ugandan literary scholar and poet.

Liyong studied at the University of Iowa in the United States and taught at various universities around the world. His literary work is not very extensive. In 1999 he published his new translation of Okot p'Biteks " Lawinos song". Taban and Okot had been friends for years and companions. Intention of this controversial new translation is to write again to the African reader.
