Tabitha King

Tabitha King (born 24 March 1949 in Old Town as Tabitha Jane Spruce ) is an American author and the wife of Stephen King.

Life

Tabitha King was born in 1949 as one of eight children in Maine. She was the daughter of a shopkeeper and was raised Catholic. After her high school graduation, she attended the University of Maine. In 1969 she met Stephen King know in her last year of college at a picnic. They worked together in the campus Fogler Library, fell in love and were married in 1971 in a Catholic church in Old Town. In May of the same year Tabitha King received her degree in history. Since she was hired immediately, she worked at Dunkin Donuts in Bangor. In 1971, her first child, Naomi Rachel King, to the world. Because Stephen and Tabitha King did not make enough money for the family lived in a caravan. Stephen King wrote at this time at night and on weekends to his stories.

On June 3, 1972, their second child, Joseph Hillstrom King, born. Although Stephen King had yet to publish a single book, his wife encouraged him to continue writing. In March / April 1973 Stephen King sold his first book, Carrie, which Tabitha King rescued from the trash because her husband found it to be so bad that he threw it. After the success of Carrie Tabitha and her family moved into a rented apartment. In April 1977, their third child, Owen Phillip King, was born. Three years later appeared with Small World (Eng. The Doll's House ) Tabitha King's first book. Until 2008, she wrote eight books, seven of which have been translated into German.

1991 Tabitha King was threatened by a fan of her husband in their home. She managed to escape and call the police. After the incident, the Kings could increase the security of their home. Since their marriage they have always moved again, but in the end it took the Kings repeatedly to Maine.

In 1986, Tabitha King, together with her husband Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation The. A non-profit organization which acts mainly in the region around Kings hometown.

The end of 1989, the couple donated King of Milton Academy in Massachusetts, a large amount of money for the arts and music center.

In Tabitha King's hometown, the Kings donated money for a new wing of the library. The cultivation was then called Tabitha Spruce -King- wing.
