The Tabora Region is located in the western central highlands of Tanzania and has approximately 1.7 million inhabitants. The region has an area of approximately 76,151 km ² (that is, about the size of Bavaria). The capital of the same Tabora has approximately 120,000 inhabitants.
The region is divided into six districts:
- Tabora Urban
About 20,000 tons of tobacco are grown annually. The miombo woodland also allows the extraction of timber and charcoal, and honey and gum arabic.
The German Foreign Office warns in the region against infection with the causative agent of sleeping sickness.
