Tabu (actress)
Tabu ( Hindi, तब्बू, Tabbū, born 4 November 1970 at Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, real name: Tabassum Hashmi ) is an Indian film actress of Hindi film.
Life
From a few exceptions, Tabu is mainly known to represent characters in artistic films with a low budget who are praised by film critics einzuspielen instead a lot of money (such as MF Husain's Meenaxi in: A Tale of Three Cities or Maqbool ).
She is the niece of Shabana Azmi and the younger sister of actress Farha ( Indian actress ).
Awards
Tabu has won the National Film Award for Best Actress twice - once for Maachis (1996) and for Chandni Bar ( 2001). She also has three Filmfare Awards for Best Performance for Virasat (1997), Hu Tu Tu ( 1999), and won Astitva (2000) and in 1995 the Filmfare Award for Best Newcomer.
