Taça da Liga

The Taça da Liga ( German: League Cup), officially bwin Cup is a competition of the Portuguese league for professional football, which was first played in the 2007/ 08 season. The competition was proposed by Sporting Lisbon and Boavista Porto in 2006. At the meeting of all professional Portuguese football clubs on 28 November 2006 in Porto, they agreed on the format for which all 32 clubs in the First and Second Portuguese league are eligible. The first winner is Vitória Setúbal. Current title holder is the SC Braga.

Format

Season 2007/ 08

All teams from the First and Second League are automatically eligible.

• In the first round, the courts play 9 to 14 of the Liga de Honra plus the two climbers, with home advantage, against the eight top-ranked teams (including the two relegated from the First League ) the previous season.

• The winners of the first round on the teams that ranks 9 to 14 plus the two climbers occupied in pre-season in the First League in the second round hit.

The winning team from the first round to enjoy home advantage.

• In the third round, the winners of the second round and the eight best teams in the top league in Portugal meet. Again, the teams that come out of the second round, home law.

Is it in the games of the first three rounds after 90 minutes, 0 to 0, the winner is determined by a penalty shootout.

• In the fourth round, the last eight teams meet in return game.

• The four remaining teams play in the fifth round to the finals. The finalists will be determined in a group stage, each club plays once against the other three. The group first and second qualify for the final.

Season 2008/ 09

• In the first round the clubs meet in the second division each other in a return match.
• In the second round, the eight winning teams from the first round and the ten most ill-placed teams from the First Division (ranked 7-16 ) meet in six groups of three. Only one of each run one game against each team.
• In the third round, the six group winners of the second round clash in the top six clubs in the First League in three groups of four. It will again be held only first legs. The first three winners and the best runner-up qualify for the next round. The best runner-up is determined by the following data: 1 number of points
• 2 Goals Scored
• 3 Youngest average age

Season 2010/11

With the new format, a total of 67 parties are completed.

• First Round: The teams from the Liga de Honra will be drawn into four groups of four teams. After three games, eight teams qualify as a group first and second.
• Second round: round-trip game between the eight qualified teams from the first round, the two climbers in the first division and the six most poorly placed teams in the Primeira Liga from the previous season.
• Third Round: The eight winners from the second round and the eight teams in the Primeira Liga bestplaziertesten from the previous season meet in four groups of four teams. After three games to qualify only the first place winner for the next round.
• Elimination round: The four group winners from the third round clash in the semifinals. The winners will meet on neutral ground in the final.
