Tacita Dean

Tacita Dean (born 1965 in Canterbury ) is an internationally renowned English artist. She works with the means of film, photography, painting, drawing, sound installation and visual narrative. Tacita Dean is a member of the Academy of Arts in Berlin.

Life and work

After graduating from Falmouth School of Art, where she studied from 1985 to 1988, followed from 1989 to 1990 a one-year scholarship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Athens and 1992, the completion of their studies at the Slade School of Fine Art in London.

Since 1992 her work was shown in solo and group exhibitions.

A cross-media exploration of the relationship between past and present, is characteristic of the work of Tacita Dean, the subject matter often people and buildings.

Dean currently lives and works (2009) in Berlin.

For the 2004/2005 season at the Vienna State Opera she created as part of the museum designed in progress exhibition series " Iron Curtain " the huge big screen (176 m²), " Play as Cast".
