Tafenoquin (WR - 238605 ) is an antimalarial agent which is a further development of the 8- aminoquinoline primaquine. It has a longer plasma half-life, and likely less toxicity. Tafenoquin is effective against tissue and Blutschizonten. For these reasons, it is potentially suitable for malaria prophylaxis. Tafenoquin is currently in clinical trials.
