The Narrow- marigold ( Tagetes tenuifolia ) is a plant of the genus Tagetes.

Features

The Narrow- Marigold is an annual plant, which reaches stature heights of 20 to 70 centimeters. The leaves are 5-13 inches long. They have 12 to 22 narrow lance-shaped and very sharp serrated sections. The flower heads have a diameter of 2.5 to 3 centimeters and are not filled. The sheath is pentadentate and 10 to 20 millimeters long. The 5 ray flowers are ovoid, emarginate and golden yellow colored with an orange, M-shaped spot. There are 10 to 40 tubular flowers available.

The flowering period extends from June to November.

Occurrence

The Narrow Marigold comes from Mexico to Colombia on river banks before.

Use

The Narrow- Marigold is scattered used as an ornamental plant for summer flowerbeds. In Asia, it is also used as a spice and perfume. The species is in cultivation at least since 1795. There are some varieties with yellow, red or orange rays.
