Taimur bin Feisal

Taimur ibn Faisal (Arabic تيمور بن فيصل بن تركي, DMG Taimur b Turki Faisal b, .. * 1886 in Muscat, † 1965 in Bombay ) was from 15 October 1913 to the February 10, 1932 Sultan of Muscat and Oman.

After Taimur had taken over the government of Faisal ibn Turki to his father (1888-1913), the conflicts between the tribes and Hinawi Ghafiri broke out again. However, it succeeded in the 1913 newly elected Imam Salim bin Rashid al - Kharusi to unite the tribes and to lead the fight against the Sultan. The advance of the tribes to Muscat ( 1915) could only be stopped with the help of the British. After prolonged negotiations, in 1920 the demarcation of the spheres of influence of the Sultan and the Imam in the Treaty of Sib. The Imam recognized as Sultan Taimur, but received this in the inland considerable autonomy.

Due to the ongoing financial crisis left Taimur the government largely British consultants and drew increasingly to India. He stayed only a short time in Muscat and came back in 1932 in favor of his son, Said ibn Taimur ( 1932-1970 ). Taimur spent after retiring most of the time outside the country (apart from a stay in Muscat 1945/1946 ) and died in 1965 in Bombay.
