Tainan County

The Tainan County (Chinese台南 县, Pinyin Tainan Xiàn ) is a former administrative unit of the Republic of China on Taiwan. He lay in the southwest of the island of Taiwan, its capital was Xinying.

On 25 December 2010, the Tainan County was incorporated into the county-level city Tainan, which received the status of a centrally-administered city then.

Cities and Towns

For Tainan County were by far the largest city in two large cities (市, Shì ), the capital, in the north Xinying and bordering on the southwest by Yongkang Tainan (永康市), with over 215,000 inhabitants ( 2010). There were seven townships (镇, zhen ) and 22 rural communities (乡, Xiang ). Today, all 31 towns and cities have the status of districts (区, Qū ) of Tainan City.
