Taiseki-ji

Taiseki -ji (Japanese大石 寺) is the head temple of Nichiren Shoshu -, a school of Nichiren Buddhism. It is located on Mount Fuji in Fujinomiya, Shizuoka Prefecture. He was in 1290 by Nikko, a student founded Nichiren. Phases of the biggest growth received the temple grounds in the Edo period and after the Second World War.

After the exclusion of the Soka Gakkai by the Nichiren Shoshu some of the post-war buildings were demolished and replaced in part by building more traditional style. Example of this is deliberately built in the style of a warehouse, Hōandō replaced the Shōhondō as the main hall in 2002.
