Takaka River

The Takaka River is a river in the north-west of New Zealand's South Island.

It runs 70 km to the north and flows north-west of Takaka in Golden Bay. Important tributaries are Cobb, Waingaro and Anatoki.

The river is used for bathing in the summer, the local authorities give in the peak period over Christmas and New Year 50-100 visitors per day, or 20-40 visitors per day ..

On 17 January 2007, reported that the river is one of a growing number of rivers in the South Island, suffering from an invasion of the diatom geminata Didymosphenia.
