Takanamat

Takanamat (also: Takanamatt ) is a rural municipality in the department of Tahoua in Niger.

Geography

Takanamat lies in the Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Tillia in the north, Affala in the northeast, Tahoua in the southeast, south and Bambeye Tébaram in the West. The municipality is divided into six administrative villages and 56 hamlets. The main town of the country church is the administrative village Takanamat.

History

The rural community Takanamat went as an administrative unit 2002 through the course of a nationwide administrative reform a part of the canton Bambeye.

Population

At the 2001 census Takanamat had 17,580 inhabitants. For the year 2010 23.685 inhabitants were calculated.

Policy

In the local elections in July 2004 Ada Tcharkou ( PNDS - Tarayya ) was elected mayor. On 15 April 2010 the Council of Ministers Dan Fane Weslamane appointed administrator ( Administrateur Délégué ) of the communities Bambeye, Tébaram and Takanamat.

Economy and infrastructure

Takanamat located in a zone is run in the Agropastoralismus. In the municipality coal deposits were discovered.
