Takayama (Nagano)
Takayama ( Japanese:高 山村, -mura ) is a village in Kamitakai -gun in the northeast of Nagano Prefecture on the main Japanese island of Honshu.
Geography
Takayama is located east of Naganotals. Covering an area of 98.5 km ² 7,411 people ( as of March 1, 2010). The administrative area of the village adjacent to the Gunma Prefecture. Adjacent municipalities are: Nagano Prefecture:
- Kamitakai -gun Obuse
- Yamanouchi
Gunma Prefecture:
- Agatsuma -gun Kusatsu
- Tsumagoi
History
Takayama was taken on September 30, 1956 by merging the villages Takai and Yamada. These two villages existed since April 1, 1889 according to amalgamation in the course of establishing the modern local government in Japan.
Traffic
In Takayama, there is neither a railroad nor national roads or motorways. The nearest railway station is the railway station Suzaka. In Takayama, public transport is operated exclusively by buses. A bus line connects the Suzaka station with the recreation area Yamada - onsen.
