Takehara, Hiroshima
Takehara (Japanese竹 原 市, -shi, literally " bamboo plane " ) is a town in Hiroshima Prefecture in Japan.
Geography
Takehara is located east of Hiroshima and west of Fukuyama on the Seto Inland Sea. The city area also includes several islands in the inland sea, including Okunoshima, which was used in the Shōwa period for the production of poison gas.
History
The city of Takehara was founded on 3 November 1958.
Traffic
Takehara is located on the National Road 2 to Osaka and Kitakyushu. The train station is on the JR Kure Line of Mihara after Kaitaichi ( from there go most of the trains still on the San'yo Main Line continues to station Itozaki in Mihara to the east, respectively, to Hiroshima or even Iwakuni in the West).
