Takelot I.

Takelot I was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh (king) of the 22nd Dynasty ( Third Intermediate Period ). He ruled around 890-877 BC Manetho calls for Takelot I. a reign of 13 years.

His father and predecessor was Osorkon I., was succeeded by his brother Sheshonk II Takelot I. is the least known Pharaoh of Libyan origin. There are no contemporary monuments that are attributed to him, only one in the grave of Osorkon II could have come from him.

He is mentioned in the genealogy on the Serapeumsstele the priest Pasenhor ( 37th year Scheschonqs V. ) Then I Takelot is the son of Osorkon I and his wife Taschendchons. His wife was called Kapes. High Priest of Amun at Thebes, two younger brothers named Takelots I. Iuwelot and Smendes III.

Takelot I. was buried in the grave of Osorkon II at Tanis.
