Takeshi Urata

Takeshi Urata (浦 田 武Japanese, Takeshi Urata, * 1947 † 15 December 2012) was a Japanese astronomer.

Urata was one of the most active amateur astronomers in Japan and director of the minor planet section of the Oriental Astronomical Association. He discovered numerous asteroids especially at Nihondaira Observatory. He was also the co-discoverer of the periodic comets 112P/Urata-Niijima.

The asteroid ( 3722 ) Urata is named after him.
